DONG QUANG TEXTILE CO., LTD.
Special Interview with Mr. Quang, the General Manager of Dong Quang Textile Co., Ltd.
The reduction of custom duties as a result of Vietnam joining the WTO has led to the Vietnamese textile industry sharply increasing investment for equipment in order to prepare for competition from Chinese and other foreign products. In addition, it also increased the need for it to play a China-plus-one role.
We interviewed Mr. Quang, the managing director of Dong Quang Textile Co., Ltd. The company puts customer satisfaction first and leads the Vietnamese textile industry, where the competition among manufacturers has been getting tougher in recent years.

Please tell us about the trends and characteristics that exist in the present day Vietnamese textile industry. |
Mr. Quang
While the center of Vietnamese textile industry has been and still is clothing industry, there is an increased demand for sewing products recently. However, because of a shortage of manufacturing companies for such textiles as spun fabrics, woven fabrics, and knitted fabrics, we have to depend on imports from countries such as China to make up for the shortfall.
In order to increase our self-sufficiency in textiles production, the government officially puts an emphasis on the textile industry and investments in the spinning field, in particular, are increasing as a result. The number of spinning spindles is 3,000,000 as of December 2007, having increased three folds over the past five years. |
|
How do you think South-East Asian countries view Vietnam ? |
Mr. Quang
It seems that South-East Asian countries have a strong image of Vietnamese textile industry focusing on colthing industry, as I mentioned before, and therefore we are seen as a textile buyer.
However, at the moment, Vietnam is the only country in South East Asia where the number of spinning spindles is increasing, so I assume that in the near future Vietnam will be the center of the South East Asian spinning industry in
terms of both quality and quantity.
Especially with regard to the quantity of textile products exported, I think that there is a high possibility of Vietnam becoming the market leader within South-East Asia after the elimination of quotas.

What made you choose Muratec Automatic Winder No.21C ? |
Mr. Quang
Because our company's main business is to sell yarn products, especially by exporting, it is not an exaggeration to say that everything depends on yarn quality from winders. Also, the quantity of production directly affects the company's performance. Therefore we naturally seek good performing winders, which make high quality products.
Originally, we had been using automatic winders made by another company, but we decided to install 30 units of No. 21C as automatic winders for another 110,000 spindles. This is because of Muratec's reputation for excellent after-sales services and the superior productivity and reasonable price of 21C over other competitors.
Because the performance of the 21C and the after-sales service of Muratec's office in Ho Chi Minh City is even better than we expected, we have decided to order another 16 units for 58,000 spindles.

What do you expect from Muratec hereafter ? |
Mr. Quang
As the quality of the products is our top priority, we purchase other companies' trial machines at the investment stage and evaluate the machines from such aspects as the machine itself and the sales and after-sale service.
We have decided to purchase Muratec's products for the next investment as well. We expect that your products will bring good results. |
