Special Interview with Dr.Vivekanand,
Director of Visaka Industries Limited
It is known widely that India is one of the largest cotton material and cotton yarn producing countries in the world. It is also known for its large scale production in the man-made fiber spun yarn field. Nowadays, with the help of new technology, the movement to win the race of "market securing" is becoming ever so rapid.
This new spinning technology which was developed in the 1980's, is called "Air Jet Spinning", and is already well known in the textile industry. Although this technology to spin is well known, the functions and characters this spun yarn has is surprisingly unkown, much less known in the downstream of the textile industry in India. By representing the technical functions and character as new technology, new products are now taking over.
This time we have interviewed with Dr.Vivekanand, Director of Viska Industries. Visaka Industries is the user of the Murata Twin Spinner, and has already made their name in the doubled yarn market.

Is there any special concerning point to promote Jet spun yarn to the market ? |
Dr. Vivekanand
Air-jet spun yarns will become the yarn as "all-purpose" yarn. Suitable awareness programmes and promotion campaign from Muratec will make it as the "versatile" yarn for any sector in Textiles.

How are you going to respond to tough competition start from 2005 ? |
Dr. Vivekanand
We all at Visaka feel that since January 2005, there will be tough competition not only due to quota-free regime but also due to an appreciating Indian rupee.
In today's context, manufacturing companies with proper financial leverage and sourcing policies only can withstand the ensuing competition. Visaka's infrastructure in all these sectors has been strengthened enough to meet such challenges. |

Visaka Industries Limited currently is a 40 million USDollars turnover company in India. With a humble start in 1985 manufacturing building products, Visaka diversified into spinning in 1992.
Visaka is completing its current expansion phase of spinning division in June 2004. With 28 Murata Twin spinning machines in one location, it is the largest installation in the world.
Visaka has been producing about 5000 tonnes of yarns per year till now. With the addition of 8 machines, from June 2004, our annual production will be 7000 tonnes per year.
Till now, about 2000 tonnes of yarns have been exported worldwide each year and the balance 3000 tonnes have been marketed in India.
Visaka is an ISO 9001:2000 certified organisation and a recognised Export House by Government of India.
The company is working on to get OEKO-TEX certificate this year.
