MURATA MACHINERY, LTD.: Environmental Philosophy

The Headquarters of MURATA MACHINERY, LTD, as a headquarters mechanism of MURATA MACHINERY, LTD. which manufactures and sells industrial machines (textile machine, machine tool, distribution system equipment, and clean system equipment) and information devices (facsimile), will minimize damage to the environment in our business activities centering on paperwork, R&D, services, and sales related to business administration under the slogan "We respect and maintain the global environment in all aspects, including corporate activity, products, and services".

Moreover, since we are located within Kyoto City, the following principles will be fulfilled to preserve good environment for Kyoto.

1. We will form an environment management organization in our Headquarters that will continue to improve our systems for environment preservation and pollution prevention.
2. We will understand the impact on the environment generated by the activities, products, and services of our businesses, establish and review environmental goals and objectives.
3. We will comply with legal and other requirements concerning the environment that are related to the activities of our businesses.
4. The workers at the Headquarters will follow the below guidelines as steps towards environmental preservation.
   1. Reduce the environmental burden created in the development and design process from manufacturing to disposal of products
   2. Decrease the environmental burden created in the process of purchasing raw materials and parts.
   3. In addition to working to reduce the amount of used paper, waste plastics, steel scrap, etc expelled as a result of business activities, promote recycling by trash sorting, aiming at zero emission.
   4. Beautify the office site and clean up its vicinity in accordance with Kyoto’s standing as a cultural city, Kyoto.
   5. Keep the consumption level of resources, mainly paper, used in business activities based on the result of our past activities on reduction .
   6. Keep the energy consumption level of electricity, crude petroleum, and city gas used for lighting and air-conditioning based on the result of our past activities on reduction.
5. We will appoint internal environmental auditors who will conduct random internal environmental inspections if necessary, in addition to making an annual plan. The auditors will review the environmental management system and work to improve it.
6. We will conduct advertising and environmental education campaigns for all workers at our Headquarters, attempt to raise environmental awareness and understanding of the company's environmental policies, and encourage all workers to participate in environmental preservation activities. In addition, we will explain our environmental policies to our partner companies, and request that they also join us in our conservation efforts.
7. This policy will be posted publicly both inside and outside of the company.
